A workshop where Lake Havasu City’s business community can learn how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will affect their business is being offered by the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Havasu Hospitality Association. The workshop will be held Friday, March 22 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center, 1477 Queens Bay in Lake Havasu City.
The workshop is open to members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Hospitality Association and area business persons. There is no charge to attend.
Speakers for the event are Ruthann Laswick, President of Blue Water Benefits Consulting; Glenn Hamer, President & CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Mike Causey, consultant with Arizona Benefit Plans, Inc.
The workshop will help area business persons to understand how the Act affects their business; about different types of coverage; and compliance with the new federal law and is not a commercial sales presentation.
Laswick has 37 years of experience in the insurance industry in both consulting and from the employer’s side. For the past few years much of her time has been spent teaching courses for insurance agents, accountants and doctors on the components of healthcare reform. She is a noted health reform expert and has written a variety of white papers for Congress.
Causey began his career in the employee benefits industry in 1991 and is responsible for sales in the Colorado River valley as well as the greater Phoenix area. Arizona Benefit Plans, Inc., specializes in self-funded insurance plans for business.
Hamer has led the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2006. He has overseen the organization's development into one of the most respected pro-business public policy entities in the state. Hamer has led the state through the passage of several legislative campaigns to benefit business and industry in Arizona.
